When I was little, I've always had this dream of living an amphibious life that allows me to live both on the land and under the sea (and if I'm lucky, above the sky).. But the sea! ah..with all the magical creature, the monsters, and colorful corals. There's always a mystery and adventure in every part of it.
Imagine how thrilled I was when Moel himself took me for a guided tour in his exhibition: The Mogus World. It was as if I was actually breathing under the sea, swimming around with the colorful fishes, and playing with the friendly-looking octopus monsters. The monsters.. they're just way too cute I can't help myself not to touch it (or trying to squeeze it, to be precise..my friends are yelling at me to stop me from actually doing it). I mean, who can help it anyway.. it's too cute. (I'm abusing that word 'cute' here because I can't seem to find more suitable word to express it.. oops..)
Moel said, it took him and his friend (Palupi) two years to finish the corals, not to mention the soft toy figures: the octopus monsters. Oh, did I mention that they were all hand-knitted by Moel? Yes. He is the guy who knit. He creates this family of friendly octopus monsters called The Mogus (Monster Gurita Sigarantang). Let's admit it..it's pretty impressive, isn't it?
That little baby octopus monster that I carried around is called "Ahmed". He is Moel's travelling companion and he has actually traveled half the world away..his photos were printed on some postcards shown in the entrance of this exhibition. Really, isn't he just adorable?
Alright, stop me from this cuteness overload panic attack and get yourself a dose by visiting this exhibition at KKF (it will be on display until July 2nd). Please forgive that greasy tan face on the photo..you see, me and Moel and some other 20 friends just had a long day full of art tour on the day this photo was taken. First, Dito and I guided an artist studio tour to Samuel Indratma's, Mess 56, Anang Saptoto's, Prihatmoko Moki & Elia Nurvista's, Mulyakarya, and Nindityo's studio with the Meta-Meta team (it took us 5 hours of walking and becak tour under the fierce Jogja sun..that would explain the tan). After that we join a discussion at iCan about performing art and had dinner at Cemeti over some Tromarama's video. Than, we went to KKF for this guided exhibition. It was a art overload very fun day indeed.
Now, lets travel into the deep!
