Just Like the Little Women!

*****

It was an easy breezy Sunday, just like today. The sun was shinning gently, and warm..like a soft light blanket comfortably laid upon our skin. As soon as we laid the blanket, the picnic is on.. we talk, we laugh, we sew! Just like the little women!

Swimming Into The Mogus World

*****

When I was little, I've always had this dream of living an amphibious life that allows me to live both on the land and  under the sea (and if I'm lucky, above the sky).. But the sea! ah..with all the magical creature, the monsters, and colorful corals. There's always a mystery and adventure in every part of it.

Imagine how thrilled I was when Moel himself took me for a guided tour in his exhibition: The Mogus World. It was as if I was actually breathing under the sea, swimming around with the colorful fishes, and playing with the friendly-looking octopus monsters. The monsters.. they're just way too cute I can't help myself not to touch it (or trying to squeeze it, to be precise..my friends are yelling at me to stop me from actually doing it). I mean, who can help it anyway.. it's too cute. (I'm abusing that word 'cute' here because I can't seem to find more suitable word to express it.. oops..)

Moel said, it took him and his friend (Palupi) two years to finish the corals, not to mention the soft toy figures: the octopus monsters. Oh, did I mention that they were all hand-knitted by Moel? Yes. He is the guy who knit. He creates this family of friendly octopus monsters called The Mogus (Monster Gurita Sigarantang). Let's admit it..it's pretty impressive, isn't it?

That little baby octopus monster that I carried around is called "Ahmed". He is Moel's travelling companion and he has actually traveled half the world away..his photos were printed on some postcards shown in the entrance of this exhibition. Really, isn't he just adorable?

Alright, stop me from this cuteness overload panic attack and get yourself a dose by visiting this exhibition at KKF (it will be on display until July 2nd). Please forgive that greasy tan face on the photo..you see, me and Moel and some other 20 friends just had a long day full of art tour on the day this photo was taken. First, Dito and I guided an artist studio tour to Samuel Indratma's, Mess 56, Anang Saptoto's, Prihatmoko Moki & Elia Nurvista's, Mulyakarya, and Nindityo's studio with the Meta-Meta team (it took us 5 hours of walking and becak tour under the fierce Jogja sun..that would explain the tan). After that we join a discussion at iCan about performing art and had dinner at Cemeti over some Tromarama's video. Than, we went to KKF for this guided exhibition. It was a art overload very fun day indeed.

Now, lets travel into the deep!

Day #6

(I love mixing orange and turquoise.. that color combination is so Hermes, no?)

*****

Today is our last day in Jakarta. I'm so super excited to go back home. I've had enough holiday this time, so..

First, we went through the pain of packing for home. You see, I bought some new books and I didn't prepare any empty space in my bag. That is going to be a note to self to always have extra space in the bag.

Then, we went to re-check for the last time in Aksara and Times bookstore Pacific Place because there are some more books that I'd like to buy. We end up not buying more books (remember that pain of packing for home I told earlier?! yerp..that's why); and instead, we had a very fulfilling lunch at Canteen (by) Aksara. I was avoiding cliche this time and I'm afraid Canteen will serve just another cliche but it turns out to be very satisfying. The escargot was yummy and not so heavy, Dito's pasta and my pan-fried dory was exceeding expectation, and the service was excellent. Overall, we are a very happy customer.

After two hours browsing in Times and Aksara (where we found out about this very interestingly smart and witty Conflict Kitchen USA and some books to get into my wish-list) we are all refreshed and ready to go back home to work. Dito had this super cute idea and I'm considering something a bit underground for Lir (can't wait!!). Not wanting to ruin the mood, we both decided to go to the train station earlier..

..where we accidentally bump on my friends from Selasar Sunaryo Art Space!! That was very coincidental and we decide to go and revisit Raden Saleh exhibition in National Gallery. Dito is ready to get a pretty umbrella for this will be his third visit to this exhibition. :)))

We said goodbye just on time for the night train and that's a wrap.

Speaking of a wrap.. you see, I have all this little thing about being in a night train. It usually gives me a train-lag and I'll try to avoid it by literally wrap myself up in layers to get myself warm, drink something really warm, and try to sleep. Posted below the pictures of my three times wrapping against the train-lag. (..and you know what? It successfully did this time! I didn't suffer that annoying train-lag at all on the way to Jakarta and back. Yay!)

Day #5

*****

So today we went for a meeting at Goods Dept., another visit to Aksara, and strolling around PI-GI.. I am not much of a mall-girl type but this place has certain nostalgia for me and Dito back from when we were looking for comfort in this city after work two years ago. Some brunch, brunch-dessert, and lunch later..we went back home and after dinner (yes, it's that kind of feast-y day); we watch Midnight in Paris once again.. oh all that Movable Feast galore!

Tomorrow, we're going back to Jogja. Yeay!

Day #4

*****

Not much of a story today. Dito left to meet his friends while I opt for a calm and relaxing weekend home to work for some stuff and deadlines. This dress I'm wearing is super comfy and I actually spent most of the day barefoot and only wear the shoes for this photo.

I end up finishing several stuff, eating up a package of lychee with brie cheese and lots of cookies, and spend most of the time watching DVD *grin*

I love the way Dito dances with me many times this day and we had a little tea party after dinner (before I'm back to the track of catching up the tight deadline and posting for the blog in the middle of it)

Lets just call it an easy weekend and let the picture do the talk.. :)

More of my favorite things here:
(the night view from our window..looks like little stars)

(antique ceramics)

  (Tosca car miniature)

(the pretty little lady reading a book)

(more trinkets and art piece)

(evening tea and red velvet cakes for the two of us)

(one thing I love best here is the distinctive premium tea that is served twice a day..indulging!)

(me and Dito, we had a movie date tonight watching a week with Marylin)
